Reverse image search pins it as an Ideapad S10. Be warned, it's as ancient as Egypt so it has much lower specs compared to today's hardware. It's probably only really good for browsing nowadays. Or games that don't take up a lot of resources liek RPGMaker titles.
>>
That's one cute computer. Why don't they make computers like this anymore?
>>
>>145206
This was probably from the "notebook" era of laptops. :dark:
>>
>>145196
"It's probably only really good for browsing nowadays."

Very wishful thinking, that's a 1600MHz Diamondville Atom. The only way this thing could handle web browsing is if you got GNU/Herd and a browser (preferably Chromium) from 2015, most Linux distros would nuke this thing, and any remotely modern browser would turn it into ash... On that note, once you have powered on your S10, you can enjoy all the viruses you get from using an outdated browser with 138493 unpatched security vulnerabilities, while you browse old Web1.0 compliant sites...

>>145206
They do! They're just expensive, more than an identical large laptop. They're also often smaller, 7" screens are common these days, the S10 was a 10" laptop, smallest you'll get is 13" for standard laptops nowadays

I picked up this rather neat thing for £300 the other month. Odd tech is still out there, but no one wants to be unique anymore.

I wanted the gaming version of this laptop - the Zephyrus Duo, but alas, the cheapest usable configuration I could find was $2000..

If it’s happening on xmpp it could be because of OMEMO. That plug-in broke all my chats
>>
>>145279
Bishopu, what client you were using, nyo? Send me msg ill help you, nyo.
>>
>>145325
I've sent you messages and I think they aren't coming through that's the problem.
I started with PSi+, it didn't work with OMEMO so then I switched to Gajim which worked good until I timeshifted the pc then all the finger printing got messed up and I'm not sure if anybody is receiving my messages nor am I sure that I'm getting messages sent my way.
Very finicky, I also tried Monal on my phone which works but it doesn't tell me when users are online which is weird.

is there a reason why you would say the x200 instead of the newer x230?

>>

x230 has ips screen and gpu with vulkan support. IntelME can be disabled. My answer is no, you should look for a x230 or t480.
>>
>>145381
I managed to nab two laptops from the dump one time, but officially I wasn't supposed to take them. What they do with them after the fact, I don't know. I should ask them.
>>
>>145397
"IPS screen" is quite meaningless when all these old garbagecans never cover more than 45% sRGB anyways, add to that a 900:1 contrast ratio and a flickering lightbulb excuse of a backlight... One should look for a real laptop.

i see you kiddo don't remember how bad tn-tft with ccfl backlight could be.
what do you mean by "real laptop"? gay-ass macbook with nothing but retina display?
>>
>>145449
Yes. actually.
Gay-ass MacBook with sensible colour coverage + gamut volume, a real display coating, and most of all - a real DeltaE value, proper reasonable display calibration from factory.

I remember exactly how bad TFTs with CCFL backlights could be, they're entirely unusable once you get used to even something as basic as a $100 phone screen

>Gay-ass MacBook with
...soldered ssd, soldered ram and single port and a system that creates hashes for every single file on your drive.
Oh right, a real puter.

If you've found a way to somehow make an ARM SoC board have soldered memory and storage with absolutely no performance loss or latency deficit please do share.. not here if you're smart, preferably to Microsoft or Samsung or any other tech company because I guarantee you a $250,000/year computer engineering position with paid vacations and accolades from MIT.

As for the port, who cares, anyways? With DP Alt Mode and however many ten trillion gigabits that USB offers you, it's effectively every port you'd ever need - in one, my only problem is the lack of ethernet, but with Appleization, none of the Windows OEMs offer that anyways, I actually think some of the Linux OEMs gave up ethernet on the 13" laptops too.
>>
>>145464
"If you've found a way to somehow make an ARM SoC board have unsoldered memory and storage with absolutely no performance loss or latency deficit please do share.."
Sorry.
>>
>>145395
Yes, there is. The reason is the mechanical keyboard is superior. They also got rid of all the cool flashing lights (I don't know what most of these are for but they look cool, which is important). Also the trackpad just gets in the way and it's presence causes me disgust and offence.
>>
>>145464
if the RAM and disk were onboard the SoC, I could maybe see the argument, since you would have the extremely tight coupling
but they aren't, and any possible performance gap is offset entirely by the fact that flash storage is a consumable

in my MacBook Air, I have had to replace the SSD (which was socketed back then, thankfully) in the decade that I've had it
