Have you read Grant Morrison's X-Men run? I remember making a thread about it (or the x-men in general) like a couple of months ago but now i've actually read a sizeable chunk of the issues

It has a big print of punk/rock/alternative culture, similar to Gayman's Sandman for example. In addition to that, it treates topics related to coming-of-age and identity, more grounded, and yet, to me, they feel more appropiate given the basic premise of the mutants than the usual superhero stuff.
