IRC is dead, sadly. Every IRC channel I used to go either gets no activity at all or is a Discord bridge setup with 99% of users on Discord. God, it hurts. ( ´,_ゝ`)

That being said, we do at least have a webchat here on Heyuri. ヽ(´∇`)ノ
https://cgi.heyuri.net/chat/

Since it's an old server-side CGI script thing, it works everywhere. I've even gotten it to work in Links in a terminal.

its not dead to me; theres a few people that talk in the same IRC channel every day, but they are only online at certain hours. none of them are online right now.
look on places similar to heyuri (such as imageboards and personal websites) and you'll find IRC channels there. they are only active at certain hours, but i still enjoy them.

irc.rizon.net has some fairly active channels, among them #r9k.
irc.lainchan.org is active. It has #lainchan and #general, where people regularly talk
irc.euirc.net has a few active channels, but most of them are not in English. #lobby is English.
irc.libera.chat is active, albeit mostly for technical discussions. #thelounge exists, but I don't remember how active it was.
irc.2600.net and irc.scuttled.net respectively. They are mainly about computer hacking, linux and programming, but it's mostly chit-chat.

IRC is dying for the same reason that imageboards are dying; they're not innovating. New users don't like them because new platforms have more features and stuff, so old platforms can only lose users over time.
>>
I haven't entered an IRC chatroom in maybe eight or nine years. Even back in the early 2010s, people said IRC was dying for whatever reason. But yeah, Discord didn't help matters. Hate Discord. Ruined IRC, image boards and message boards as well.
