Please give me a VN recommendation which 1. isn't super long 2. actually has good writing 3. has cute gorls 4. easy to pirate and run on linux thank you (つ≧▽≦)つMarked for deletion (Old)
4 is teh hardest part
run it on a windows vm...?
not sure if this satisfies your other points, but SubaHibi werked for me on linux. Also teh hard part isn't really even getting it to run, for me the trouble has been getting the fonts to display at all
>>111307Using wine or some shit to run windows software on Linux is for fags, just own multiple computers
>>111311this is the one and only truth
Saya no Uta, but I am not checking for you if it can run on Linux.
>>111316>saya no uta1. isn't super long checked2. actually has good writing unchecked. for me it sucks ass 3. has cute gorls unchecked. just one girl.4. easy to pirate and run on linux anything can run on wine so checked.
>>111311I do own multiple computers.. and they also all run linux. >>111308I've never actually had a problem running a visual novel, other sort of games are usually more annoying. I shouldn't've even mentioned it if it's all anyone is going to talk about ITT..
>>111316I have already played Saya no Uta, I though it was good. >>111319You don't like the writing? I thought it was very well written, probably the only VN I've played which has had an actually interesting theme, it feels a lot like a lovecraft story, but with loli.
Бесконечное лето

>>111341oh~ oh~ oh~, that's a spin of from Fruit of Grisaia? another vn i need to finish...
>>111307Phenomeno
>>111307Marco and the galaxy dragonCute girls Writing that doesn't take itself too seriously Almost all characters are cute gorls Too lazy to check for linux Hope this helps OP
learn to read more you lazy bastardevery visual novel takes much longer than the average bookany generic book from a novel series you find will take maybe 12-15 hours to read, but visual novels are considered short if they're less than 20 hours long, and 40 is normal, and some of them can easily reach 80 hours longyou're really limiting yourself if you think length is an issue, because ALL visual novels are super long by book standards
YU-NO is a point and click game/visual novel bastard child, for me i'm about 20 hours in and now i'm on the final part, although an hour or two of that is from me having the game up in the backgroundif i had to guess it'd only take about 25 hours to complete for you, which is shortish for a vnit also has a lot of women, sex scenes with every girl (even your mother), and the main character is somewhat of a pervertthe game runs on pc98 so you can just use an emulator which might run on linux (neko project II is what i use)i can upload the HDI (rom) file with the english patch if you're interested
>>111412my mistake, i seem to have mispelled "5" as "2"
not op here, what's your favourite vn with roris?
>>111442Ichigo Mashimaro but there's no english translation
>>111410I have a pretty low tolerance for long books as well. Typically I read short stories and novellas and watch movies instead of long TV shows. I really don't see the point in playing a 40 hour long game when it has the same 'value' (as I see it) as a 5 hour game. If otaku stuff was able to be shorter and more to the point I'd probably like it a lot more.
>I really don't see the point in playing a 40 hour long game when it has the same 'value' (as I see it) as a 5 hour game.eh? visual novels have always been more worthwhile than most games i've playedthey really dont share anything in common with manga or anime, its way more submersivealso, who the hell only plays 5 hour games?
if something is enjoyable, longer = bettarthe only possible downside of consuming long things is if u have some kind of stupid principle of finishing media once started, and the series turn out to be boring. Luckily for me, I have low standards as long as girls are cute
>longer = bettari disagree to some point, as I personally haev problem with stickinng to something for too long. As i've always something else i wanna play or watch. Starting something new is moar fun!
play Galaxy Fraulein Yuna 1 and 2 on the PC-Engine CDthey're fairly short and fun you use linux so it shouldn't be too hard to figure this outinstall mednafen (emulator) and mednaffe (GUI frontend that makes mednafen much less of a pain in the ass)first game patch:http://stargood.org/trans/yuna.phpsecond game patch:http://stargood.org/trans/yuna2.phpyou'll need wine to use the provided batch files and tools, run wine cmd while in the folder and then run the batch fileor just do the patching on a Windows machine lolCD game patching is always kind of a hassle vs just "here's my rom, here's an IPS/BPS" but it's not that hard.the game images can be found here:https://archive.org/download/nec_pc-engine-cd_turbografx-cdfirst game isGinga Ojousama Densetsu Yuna (Japan) (FAAT, FABT, FACT).zipsecond game isGinga Ojousama Densetsu Yuna 2 - Eien no Princess (Japan) (FABT).zipthese are "split bin" releases when following the instructions, I have never seen the non-split onesemulator BIOS:https://archive.org/download/nointro.tg-16[BIOS] Super CD-ROM System (Japan) (v3.0).7zextract it and mv the .pce file to ~/.mednafen/firmware/syscard3.pcethese aren't exactly groundbreaking games to a modern VN player, but they're cute, short, and very entertaining and I wanted more when I was done (^Д^)the production values are excellent and they're considered fairly classic by the nihonjinand Yuna is so cute... (*´人`*)
>>111449i will learn japanese
>>111501oh yeah, there's also the Sailor Moon PC-Engine one but I didn't actually play it yetBishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon (Japan).zip is the file on the CD download pageandhttp://stargood.org/trans/bssm_pcecd.phpis the download linkyou'd set it up in the same way as the Yuna gamesthere are interactive segments here and there but the vast majority is just a straight VN affairthe art is nowhere as nice as in Yuna but oh well
