technology IS -human- and being human IS technological.
there's no way around it, technology is intrinsically part of the essence of what makes us, humans.
yes, even more than sex, even more than our extreme phantastical 'heaven & hells' conjuring mind.
to understand, every animal and plants have their specific parts in their bodies to perform very specific functions, and they are suited to the environments, and their specific bodies define what they are. eg put a desert animal in arctic and you will immediately see it can't fit.
but humans, being at the very start extremely weak and 'NAKED' much more than any other animals, have always used TOOLS.
animals never needed tools of any kind (they are basically 'fixed' forms with tools embedded, forever, with very slowly mutations if need be), we started out with nothing whatsoever,
and it's because we are intrinsically ZERO that we constantly formed TOOLS, and our tools are immediately interchangeable, and we constantly adapt to whatever place and time, over and over, because we as inherently ZERO alters the ONES around us to be whatever that fit our visions.
face it, we ARE in this sense, unique, and to say it even better. yes, admit it, we are fucken FREAKS. we have always been FREAKS.
we are a part of Nature that is so outrageously different from the rest that the theory that we might be seeded by aliens is actually NOT that crazy.
we seem like beings that 'shouldn't' exist, and we sure as hell didn't need to 'be' here either with the rest of animals; we are NOT intrinsically NEEDED.
we ARE the freaks. we ARE in a sense, THE "aliens" to the eyes of every organisms here.
all the animalistic parts of us like survival and sex and eating are just that, animalistic parts, it's us, alright sure, but it's the possibility of extreme self-mutation and self-overcoming (the mind's logic too is great part of this) that defines the strange being that differentiates the rest of animals with "human".
animals don't really have that.
"human" is something else that's inherently transcendent from what it considers itself to be itself.
if that starts to sound spiritual, well i guess it is then.
we made stone and iron spears, swords, fires, chariots, ships, the list just goes on and on and it gets bigger.
we made the mistake that these TOOLS are separate from us. they're not. they ARE us; we wouldn't even manage to exist till this day without them. we are DEFINED by them, as ages progress.
and as we use them, it's also natural that we're also, in a sense
-used- by them.
and where exactly do the line between things we hold and and ourselves even start, or, disappear? is there any division at all?
take whatever you will from all this how you will...

personally, my favorite technology is probably the washing machine.
i could get by just fine peeing and pooping outside (winter's might be rough for those occasional 20 minute dumps that can happen when you're sick) and i have a nearby body of water to at least get the sweat off of me, but i HATE wearing clothes that are too dirty

I’d like to imagine a world where we’ve given animals the ability to make tools or use tools that work with their proportions and biology.
I want to see animals evolved.

True enough, but whenever I encounter arguments like this or adjacent it’s usually to handwave criticisms of technology and when it psychologically aggravates people. Technology is human and technological progress is inevitable, but that doesn’t mean pointing out its negative effects (misinformation, psychosis, social fracturing, abuse from power) and wanting to ameliorate them makes you a Luddite.

would you recognize a naked person as human?
if yes the tools aren't something that define humanity or part of is essence
>animals never needed tools of any kind
not realy bee makes behives spider webspin lot of animals build nest and all of these things are necessary for their survival
> we started out with nothing whatsoever
just no
>we are a part of Nature that is so outrageously different from the rest that the theory that we might be seeded by aliens is actually NOT that crazy.
we are so similar to other animal that people would agree more that alien uplifted some monkey
>we are NOT intrinsically NEEDED.
by who? for what?
>animals don't really have that.
animals do self-mutilate or behave against their survival if put in some enviroments
>and as we use them, it's also natural that we're also, in a sense
-used- by them.
wdym by "used by them"???
>and where exactly do the line between things we hold and and ourselves even start, or, disappear? is there any division at all?
the line might be blurry but the division exist i will not confuse a house for a human body part unless i find it hot enough

If you saw a naked person in public you would pause and be alarmed because you know instinctively it aint right.
Case and point.
>we are so similar to other animal that people would agree more that alien uplifted some monkey
We are evolved from chimps, but we are largely hairless, because we're dependent on clothes - and the difference is in what we do more than what we look like anyway.
Your other points are too dumb to bother writing a response

So the whole time we have lived in europe and during the ice age we didnt evolve to have hair again? Also monkeys with lots of hair live in very hot climates such as south-east asia, it still gets cold at night which is why most animals have hair or thick fur.
If you think it isnt abnormal to be naked in public, can you tell me the last time you saw someone naked on the train please.

it feels too pedantic for me to reply points one by one but for polity i guess im gonna
>bee makes behives spider webspin
yes, my point was this is something fixed to them and they cant let go of them, but we can, our technology (tools) are always separated from us and thus we are inherently nothing without them, and only with them are we even 'something'
>we are so similar to other animal
only the animalistic parts. but as history and creeds show, we can overcome them (ascetics, mystics, eccentrics)
>animals do self-mutilate or behave against their survival if put in some enviroments
and they usually dont last long, because their 'technology' is fixedly embedded in their own selves to the point it cant be shed, so mos tof them die inside wrong circumstances. only bottleneck mutations save their species
>wdym by "used by them"???
this is a reference to the current worries of a.i.'s probability of changing and using us for better or worse. the a.i.'s are our own creations, just like all our other creations throughout history, and our own creations (ideologies, inventions) have altered us a lot so far, and i was just referencing our current era's a.i. with this in mind
btw its oke to disagree im fine with
>>185315
some reference to some franchise? haha
