You could survive 2 weeks with only 40 dollars for food. It would be a fun challenge. Just make a big pot of soup to eat for the whole time with basic ingredients. They used to have pots of stew that would be kept at least partially filled forever. It's called perpetual stew, they just kept reusing it.

You dont even need to eat soup if you dont like it. Just potatoes, rice, carrots and some basic meats like sausage are pretty cheap. You can make all sorts of combinations easily just in the frying pan.

Offer to do manual labour for some easy money, picking up dog poop, lawn mowing\snow shovelling. If you have nice neighbours and explain the situation they might take pity and let you do something for them in exchange for money.
You can also pawn items off you don't need or do dumpster diving and find items to pawn.
