Hello, it's the CRBA obsessive again. Sorry to post about it again, but I believe I have enough new stuff in this post to warrant it.

------------------------------------------------

I've now launched a booru for fanart and CRBA-esque art: https://booru.crba.dedyn.io/
Note this is not for "official" CRBA (i.e. everything drawn by Sean Mao), but rather for CRBA fanart and CRBA-esque art (like Faerie-StarV).

This idea came about after someone posted some very good fanart of CRBA and stated their intent to post more.

In one of the previous threads I made here, someone suggested I make fanart of it myself and post it here, to which I said I had absolutely no artistic talent. Recently, I decided to try it anyway. It came out about as badly as I expected: https://ib.crba.dedyn.io/crba/res/189

I also wrote a short essay explaining how I discovered CRBA: https://ib.crba.dedyn.io/mod.php?/crba/res/191

Pony heads are fairly easy to get good at drawing. I used to find the body harder to draw, or specifically hard to get to be in scale with the head

i wish i could draw ponies better, its hard..:emo:

Try starting with copying images from reference to get a good idea for proportions and the shape of the head/body. With ponies the general head structure only has a few components to it, and due to the flash rigs you can have references for every angle you'd realistically want. The things I struggled with when I drew ponies was body length and drawing the hair at unusual angles. I found ponies are actually easier to draw when they are wearing clothes, because they give you an excuse to cover up the harder to proportion body

I tried using one of Sean's drawings as a reference. The CRBA style is quite a bit different from the FIM style (which I presume you are referring to), so I'm not sure how helpful that would be.

Speaking of flash though, I remember very shortly after discovering CRBA there being somewhere Sean talked about trying to make a flash rig. This has been one of the biggest mysteries for me though, as in that I've never been able to find that comment or post ever again. I've gone as far as downloading every comment and post on his deviantart and looking at all mentions of 'Flash' and have been unable to find it.

Also just realized I messed up that last link. Here's what it should be: https://ib.crba.dedyn.io/crba/res/191

Oh sorry I should've looked more closely at CRBA before suggesting
In that case I wouldn't really know what to suggest except practice
