After beating it you can reload the save file and it puts you right before the final boss, so you might as well beat it now and do 100% later, so that you can brag about beating the last boss without getting all the health upgrades.

Read my comment again, I literally said you didn't need them.
Also, the easy final boss, is the bad ending one. The true final boss was the hardest boss in the game for me.
