It's surprising seeing a 25 episodes series airing in teh current year, but I certainly welcome it

They're just following the tried and true "3 episode rule"

We just had Ascendence of a Bookworm season 4 which was also over 20 episodes and ran from April to early October of this year and just ended.

Now that's a lame rule tbh if you can't get through 12 episodes which is most anime your attention span is dog shit.

I binged all episodes of Umaru season 1 and Watamote in a single day back in 2017 only took a few hours.

It's... a rule to see if you consider a show worth continuing with - nothing to do with attention span. There's no reason to waste your time continuing with a show that isn't doing it for you after 3 episodes - and if it does do it for you, obviously you're gonna stick with it
