Imagine you're unable to access Internet for 7 years straight starting tomorrow.

What mangas do you wish are in your very ooki storage now, and why do you choose to keep those?
>>
7 years-worth of manga I've never read before - so I can read stuff I've never read before for 7 years ヽ(´ー`)ノ
>>
>>6514
hm. got it, naturally, of course that would be one's choice. op here. in fact i'm just trying to see if other anons know of precious mangas i should check out.
i've the feeling, from seeing the way things are unfolding, that our precious internet might be locked and guarded by none of us here like in one of the coming years, and also by 2030 thing might look quite bad, i'm just saving precious stuff for myself in preparation for that, which is what i rec for all others reading this too.

and animes take larger space than mangas.
>>
worst comes to worst there will always be our old computars and Tor Browser

I don't rly know a lot about manga, I would probably get around reading through VNs I've been procrastinating including all Key ones, which could be enough for 7 years :sweat2:

As for manga specifically, stuff whose anime plots diverged (eg. D.Gray-man, Claymore, Akame ga Kill!, Elfen Lied, Angel Beats!) comes to my mind. Or anime that skips manga arcs liek School Rumble, Fairy Tail(? - didn't watch new seasons yet), Hunter x Hunter, Soul Eater, Beelzebub, To rabu ru...

I will probably next read manga while watching Kami Nomi zo Shiru Sekai since I think the anime-version skips stuffz that are impr0tant for the plot :nagato:
>>
>>6513
i would probably store book since i don't have enough space for seven year worth of manga
>>
>>6517
i wouldnt have expected there are that much vns in existence to last 7 years

>>6518
a cupboard it is then
>>
>i wouldnt have expected there are that much vns in existence to last 7 years
Only going from notable Key ones,
Kanon takes 30 hours
AIR takes 30 hours
Clannad takes 80 hours (+ Tomoyo After take 14 hours) (+ Hikari Mimamoru Sakamichi de takes 7 hours)
Little Busters take 80 hours (+ Kud after takes 17 hours)
Rewrite+Fandisk takes 90 hours
Angel beats take 30 hours
Summer Pockets takes 50 hours
...Together that's liek 430 hours

Key aside, from my quick calculation, Yuzusoft ones take 530 hours

Nao add some more eroge from frontwing, SciADV series, standalone studio stuff like subahibi, u end up with enough VNs for few life cycles :sweat2:
>>
>>6520
mm. thats quite an info.
btw any idea why these stuffs often take like gigabytes each? i often wondered because i thought vns are like simple text + static repeated images, im curious what makes them quite bulky
>>
>btw any idea why these stuffs often take like gigabytes each?
I dunno for sure, but I think voice (if there is) occupies teh most space
>>
spam download a shit ton of visual novels and maybe buy dvds of anime movies
>>
Watch Precure
>>
>>6522
Yeah, he industry standard is lots of small ogg files and that doesn't compress well. Newer games also have high resolution CGs that duplicated many times with details changed, which adds up too.
It's fun to compare with PC-98 games, where resolution was low with (usually) no voice, and games could fit on a few floppies. There is an archive of 4000+ PC-98 games floating around the web and it takes less than 12GB in total, I used it a lot back when I had little storage (I still do).

>>6513
I'd download as much ero-doujinshi as my disk can fit. But I'd probably run out (I'm already running out with Internet).
>>
>>6513
lock me in a cage for 14 years with all the Ys games and i will leave that cage halfway done ヽ(´ー`)ノ
>>
>>6538
THERE ARE FOUR THOUSAND PC-98 GAMES IN EXISTENCE? REALLY? FOUR THOUSAND?!?

any important ones? probably should save some even that now the myrient site is gone.

>>6539
just counted on wiki... there are 10 games since 1987.. quite much. but why just this one franchise in particular, whats so special

There are a lot of duplicates in there too; I've just done a quick dedupe on the index and got 2369 titles. It also has a few manuals, so I'd estimate the exact number is around 2000 (only the games in the pack, of course).

>any important ones?
I'm probably missing a lot, but here's some brands to start:
>C's ware
known for Kanno Hiroyuki: DESIRE, EVE Burst Error, XENON; but Kindan no Ketsuzoku was also reasonably popular
>Silky's
their games are less ambitious than C's Ware, but similarly fun: Nonomura Byouin no Hitobito, Ai Shimai, Jack - Haitoku no Megami (picrel), Reira - Slave Doll
>Sogna
all games are beautifully animated, and even voiced - on DOS!! truly a display of human ingenuity, also the scenes are just really hot
>Elf
known for Doukyuusei, Kakyuusei, YU-NO, Isaku; their less popular games are worth trying too
>Alice Soft
known for Rance, Toushin Toshi, AmbivalenZ, Only You; also check Ayumi-chan Monogatari
>Cocktail Soft
known for Pia Carrot; I also liked Dokidoki Vacation
>Leaf
known for Shizuku, Kizuato (the former even has a TL, the latter is WIP)
>Active
they got popular later, but you can expect games with Sei Shoujo to be fun: Mahjong Gensoukyoku series, Hana Yori Dango 2
>Cybertech Custom
not a VN, but they did CyberBlock Metal Orange which is so popular it's getting a remake this year (but the Sharp X68000 version looks better than PC98). also, TEEN has some nice music & yuri
>Giga
known for Variable Geo, but their most popular titles are 2000s
>desire
May Club is reasonably popular, but it was too difficult for me :sweat2: (Akiho-san moe)

Honorable mentions:
>AyPio
they win the "most accurate title" award with their game SEX, otherwise it's forgettable nukige (the art is pretty though)
>JAST
one of the oldest eroge brands, but I read their production process was "create art, then think of some story for it" and it shows, they have some really bad scenarios
>Mink
I found the games boring, but the art is pretty - servicable nukige I suppose
>Fairy Dust
Escalation'95 is one of the few PC98 yuri games; it was OK
>Gainax
they of course did Princess Maker, and some eroge too, but I never played any so I can't comment
>Cat's Pro
I haven't played yet, but Tiyu recommends NOVA
>Cocktail Soft FMC
likewise, Tiyu recommends Yokohama Elegy
>>
>>6544
omg saved thank you so much for this
>>
>>6544
o my.
arigatou. certified hood classic post. welp now ill go check out pc-98 emulators then
>>
>>6544
Minor correction:
>Cat's Pro
Looking it up now, this is actually a Panda House brand - the other being Melody, which made Escalation'95 (Fairy Dust was the publisher) and Kurayami, which I enjoyed a lot. (Kurayami even has an ongoing fan TL project, but I don't know its status.)
>>6546
If you're on Windows, I recommend Neko Project 21/W. For Linux, Neko Project II Kai is more or less a port of 21/W.
There is also RetroArch which wraps Neko Project in a more appealing UI, but I found raw Neko Project easier to understand ^^
>>
>>6548
thanks. so the files are roughly almost always under 10mb each. like those gba roms. so thats why they fit in a floppy disk.
