I hear the anime is good, but I want to play the games too. The watch/play order seemed confusing the last time I looked into it (10 years ago?)

Never seen teh anime but I've tried to play the first game a couple of times - the story is intriguing, but I find the gameplay extremely bland, so I end up not coming back to it (;´Д`)

ur right the gameplay is pretty bland to be honest but jfgddsfgjsdj i always find myself drawn to stuff like that, when the story and world and characters and everything else around them is so interesting and so ambitious but the budget/time constraints/whatever just wasnt where it needed to be to make everything perfect, but despite those negatives everything else around it is just so damn good you cant help but love it and ignore the bad stuff.
idk what it is but i alwaysss fall in love with things like that. i guess sometimes you can really feel the passion behind everything when creators get overly ambitious and you end up with something imperfect

Holy shit I love the .hack/ series
I watched .hack/SIGN as a kid and read a few of the manga, but I've only played .hack/GU. Never beat it, and I think by now I'd have to restart cuz I don't remember what I was doing when I stopped playing.

But man, the character designs were so good in that series. I was more into the guy characters, but Black Rose really is so cute...

If I got trapped in that digital world, even with the danger, I don't think I'd mind hehehe (´π｀)

sign is so perfect, it really captures what it was like to just be chilling doing nothing in a random location on an mmo with your bros for 1X hours a day. And then you go fight something and it's super underwhelming lmao

i remember feeling kind of naughty buying the manga back in the day, because blackrose has her little boobies out and the romance in the manga is incestuous, but it turns out no employees at bookstores read the manga they sell so i was not judged

Well there's certainly moe characters, but the story itself isn't moe. I mean its not like some intense seinin or something, but its got the usual action and sad stuff you'd see in an action/adventure series. So it might not always be happy/cutesy enough for after work unwinding like slice of life is.

...although the .hack/4Koma probably has enough humor to counteract any dramatic and sad parts, so maybe go with that? ( ´ω`)
