IRC & Townhall

On the 10th of each month, Heyuri holds a townhall - I have described in detail what this actually is here

Heyuris IRC channel is #heyuri on rizon.net

Use this thread to suggest features for kokonotsuba, things you would like to add, bugs you would fix, etc - suggestions will be forwarded to the developers.

I would suggest some sort of fit feature when you enlarge an image. Every time I click an image, I have to minus the screen to 50% size just to see the whole thing, so it would be a nice touch.
>>
>>2623
For the time being, put this in ur custom CSS:

.expanded-close{max-width:100%;}
>>
k♡♡z this is very important: When you save a flash from /f/, it should save as the original filename, not the unix timestamp of when it was uploaded. Otherwise, n00bs will start saving flashes with mangled filenames.

Also, it would be nice to have tags for flashes, i.e. a, g, l, h, and j.

Thanks

Well, would you look at that.
I still think that there is going to be a lot of people accidentally saving flashes with the wrong names.

2- click "Add a Network"
3- Fill the box as in the picrel and click 'Connect to Network'
4- type in /join #heyuri

Hijacking this post to say this:

/q/ posts haven't appeared on /all/ since /y/ was added (and all /y/ posts appeared as if they were posted on /q/ on /all/)

I've missed every post made here since then, as well as missed the townhall (assuming it happened)... AGAIN!!!!!

There are some heyuri features, like emotes, that I would like to add before implimenting.

We are finishing those, and might not have time to deliver right on time.

THINGS ARE RUSHED

EXPECT MIGRATION WITHIN..... 24 HOURS.

why the ban?
i guarantee that thread would have generated interesting discussion
i guarantee you it would have generated discussion in line with heyuri's culture, i guess you're just so strongly indoctrinated into the anti cult that you're willing to act against the very spirit of your website

Heyuri is dead, like really dead. Falling from 250 posts per day in july of 2020, to about a 100 in december, 60 in january, and maybe 10, or 15 on a lucky day in february, and most of that is the anon in /amh/ posting screenshots of the show

Lets not ask what happened, we already asked that. Lets not fantasize about what we could have done differently, or why its happening, lets ask how to fix it.

How?

Well let's face it: a lot of these lurkers are n00bs, newfags, whatever, and are probably scared of misunderstanding the culture and outing themselves as such in their posts. The only real answer to you newfags I have is to take the chance, and if you FAIL, so be it; you're fukkin anunuhmus.

Users don't come from a void, there needs to be some form of "advertising" to the world outside of Heyuri.

An advertisement was made on neocities, but that's obviously not enough.

Where else can we advertise on? I think it is necessary too, but at this rate I am scared newcomers would start posting without familiarizing themselves with the site culture. And often they don't any break rules, so we can't expect mods to b& anyone who doesn't fit- that would be too strict for Heyuri anyways.

I assume people interested in old net/futaba culture isn't rarity, but there isn't a place where we can find them to my knowledge

So far so good!

Firstly I'd like to thank LOLico for helping me out with all of this, hes massively aided in development and really helped keep things moving smoothly. The software is fast and works well, and has all of Heyuris features + more. Some notable mentions include the upgraded threadlist, a search function, quick reply, etc. It also has given me time to fix some things i kept putting off, like properly organized css, better suit mobile users, and a faster mod panel. Aside from that, it also looks great.

I thought a status update was due, so hear you go. I didn't want you all to feel left in the dark.

On another note, I really have not been focusing on Heyuri as much as I was, getting caught up with gurochan and this new software has had my hands tied. But it seems that its in good hands now, so my neglect ends here.

(Picture is what it looks like so far, although we havent even implimented HALF of the modules to come... also that is not the default style, its just my preference. Futaba will stay our default.)

The site is currently running like ASS

It takes ages to open threads or make replies, and every time I try to make a thread on /b/ with a certain ~6 MB png it just fails

Wats going on?

I have a feeling this new software will take ages to come out

I have noticed that the overboard is quite slow, taking around ~15 seconds to load, other boards are fine.
The captcha also fails more often than not, maybe I'm just a robot and haven't realised it yet ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

You should refresh captcha just before posting, I think it expires in a minute

i kind of like it. it makes it feel like its really an old site.

Were you alive back then? I certainly do not miss the loading times of the 90s and 2000s.

>Now when I say "clutter" or refer to "simplicity" I dont mean the bleak, web-2.0, plain white interfaces you see on many other sites (or imageboards even) — I mean the amount of buttons, <hr>'s, the links to sources (imgops), the unnecessarily detailed timestamps, etc.

>Though it wasnt very popular in its time, from a retrospective standpoint, I find that StrawberryHeaven's general "look" is very attractive, although, the number system was not the best, I definitley think the simplistic style of StrawberryHeaven rings true more to heyuris "old-style" than the overly complicated and feature-packed heyuri we use. If I could pinpoint it, i think plain ol' wakaba looks just fine.
sweat sweat sweat I UNEQUIVOCALLY DISAGREE!!!11 sweat sweat sweat

Now I'm not against code optimizations or keeping things "oldsk00l" by any stretch of the imagination, but I can't stress how much I prefer the way Heyuri currently looks over the barebones "this imageboard was either launched yesterday or there's no actual developers on board" look - and I ESPECIALLY prefer it over SH, which just looked plain crappy closed-eyes2. That was one of the main things I loathed about SH, and why I was so freaking happy to finally be back here!!!

I've always said that Heyuri looked its best during the Sakomoto era ( https://archive.vn/KEFfH ), and I still think that now. Everything was well laid out, nothing looked misaligned or hacked together, and it was just so goddamn nice to browse and use (how well it was built behind the scenes is a different matter - I assume there's a good reason why LOLico put all that effort into replacing it!)

Stripping an imageboard down to look like stock futallaby/wakaba/whatever doesn't even make it look "MOAR OLD", because everyone's been using extensions/scripts that added extra bells and whistles since forever (like DamageInc's 4chan Firefox Extension, which first came out in 2004: http://4chan.wrathfilledhate.net/ ). The same goes for Futuba, which in addition to the numerous native features that have been added over the years, has tons of extensions/scripts out there that many are using to enhance the site's look and functionality

I urge you to reconsider messing around much with Heyuri's interface, especially regarding "simplification", or at least take XTREME CAUTION when doing so. Small changes in interface can have HUEG effects on the feeling a website gives off and the culture it inspires, and it's surprisingly easy to accidentally throw the baby out with the bathwater in this regard. I'd HAET more than anything to see Heyuri get reverted into looking like yet another "plain, featureless, throwaway imageboard #34982", so plz don't do that whatever you do!!!
>>
going to have to agree with this completely!!
>>
I agree about the look of the Sakomoto era.
That being said, the differences between all the different imageboard styles are rather subtle. While it would be nice for Heyuri to be distinctive, as long as we don't adopt some overly streamlined Web 2.0 look I'm not too bothered by it.

>Stripping an imageboard down to look like stock futallaby/wakaba/whatever doesn't even make it look "MOAR OLD", because everyone's been using extensions/scripts that added extra bells and whistles since forever
While thats true, i don't think the point is really to make things look old school but rather to give users the choice of what features to add and how (and even whether to add them if they'd prefer a lighter page for whatever reason) like we used to have back in the day
>>
I don't like barebones looks but I also heavily dislike the current homogenized almost corporate-like look that all fucking imageboards have nowadays, plus dozens of useless features except the most important one (having users).
