I believe this sudden increase has largely been caused by the dead, beaten horse that is commentary content on platforms like YouTube. Over time, the amount of people committing actual serious offences worthwhile enough to make an "x EXPOSED" video on has run low enough that the bar has been lowered closer and closer to the ground, just so people can be constantly morally outraged, which keeps big bucks from the easy to make yet popular videos rolling in.

The fact that such content is largely consumed by younger people probably amplifies it, since its easier to convince them that "2D art == literal CSAM" and other similar beliefs. ^^;
