That anon who posted it here to just put in my two cents. I've lurked for years but never posted much. I haven't posted on imageboards in general much for some years for some schizo personal reasons I won't get into. I've always understood that section of rule 8 as essentially an anti-flaming/anti-4chan culture thing, but I feel like the usage here is just a results of such shortened usage entering the common vocabulary outside of any chan context. My personal opinion is obviously 4chan things are okay to to have a harsher view on, but others should remain as signs of noobery, not to be encourage, but not necessarily bannable just judgable by the imageboard population at large in a gatekeeping sort of way. But again I'm relatively new to being active here so take that with a grain of salt.

I would say though that as admins and mods say here, yeah it was never meant to ban them in any context, so it would definitely be clearer if reworded. I got the implication that section was about flaming, but not everybody would, and it is slightly misleading IMHO. Not the biggest deal but it would be better if worded clearer.
