>I don't think those kinds of things should be stated and written in stone as if we're some kind of unquestionable authority on the matter
You are right, we aren't - but neither are the suggestions would be absolute rules. If I had a way to offer them as my "tips" without them being treated like the old "Tips" page once did, I'd just go with it
But really, all it
would
should do is offering another perspective. And if someone goes against them only because they are annoyed by some mascot character, they are likely not fitting the culture anyways. Reminds me there is just one user like that about OP quotelinking - doing it just to annoy others pointing out, and he is one of the worst ban evaders we've had...
>Official Heyuri Lexicon & Terminology: You Must Use It
Again, I explicitly said there wouldn't be any "You Must Use It"s, nor I support such a thing myself!
>At best, all you can do is offer your own thoughts/opinions/experiences
This would effectively be that - without me butting in every time to make a post to offer my opinions in unrelated threads. Consider only a minority of users browse this board to read our conversations.
>This is exactly what I did back when digits-checking, greentext, "doremispeak", OP quotelinking, etc. were commonplace on Heyuri years ago - the topics got brought up by other users, I offered my thoughts and experiences in the threads
Correct, but...
>and then there was a near-absence of those things going forward
...I caused this!
>and I wasn't even a mod
Because I was! And I was actively suppressing posts with them, or making public bans for them.
Again, I don't enforce for my personal opinions for "do"s and "don't"s so strongly anymore, but I don't think a 2020s imageboard like Heyuri would be what it is today without that solid foundation enforced by the staff and supported (or at least not heavily objected) by the users of the time.
