I think teh JS pre-warning idea sux personally - it's taking teh interwebs way too seriously, and would do far more harm than good IMHO (both in annoyance and in making Heyuri a worthy subject of ridicule)

The original intention of the rule was to combat a certain breed of stock one-word retorts and putdowns, such as "cringe" -> "obsessed" -> "seethe" -> "dilate" etc. which was flooding every thread on 4chan (among other places) for several years. It's the intention and attitude behind those posts that are the problem, not the exact vocabulary (which is ever-changing as time goes on)

Teh rule is there to make sure Heyuri isn't a party-p00ping hostile-against-itself 24/7 kinda site - ironically, some of the more ardent Rule 8 supporters can end up bringing about that kind of culture anyway by having a stick up their butt about it
