>Maybe that works with very aggressive moderation (so you can ban 90% of visitors from 4chan as soon as they land here with the intent to shit the place up as always).
That's the way we always used to do it - throw caution to the wind, advertise liek crazy, then filter out all teh lamers via b&hammer biggrin

However, during the unannounced and unexpected late-December/early-January ad campaign to 4chan and other places, there was only kaguya and I moderating Heyuri - that setup was perfectly adequate for how active Heyuri had been for most of the previous 2 years, but with a sudden big influx of several times the amount of usual users & activity, we got totally overwhelmed sweat2

Even once things had "settled", keeping up with Heyuri moderation was now significantly more burdensome and stretching us to our limits, but it was difficult to quickly bring anyone new on board since there hadn't been enough time for teh n00bs to lurk and adapt - we would have end up with teh dreaded n00b mods, which sux for everyone dark

We've got moar hands on deck now, and I think with a little moar time for lurking and assimilating, we can finally go back to our carefree, caution-2-teh-wind ways biggrin
