OP here

Didn't add this but since the thread took off I figured i will: I was one of the more active posters on the site (easily the top 5 by my own count) over the past half a year but the list of allowed topics has narrowed considerably to the point where you have to carefully double check every post to make sure you don't accidentally break one of the many unwritten or flimsily interpreted rules. I've met a few ex users of this site who seem like all around good people but stopped using the site due to the moderation being a little too ban happy. Innocent posts that are totally in line with the spirit of the site are frequently deleted, and you know, we don't get paid to post here or anything. Eventually people just leave, and all you get are the porn threads or whatever and the people who make them. Or like random image macros with no comment. I'm not saying anyone who gets a post deleted is going to leave, but it happens a few times over benign things and you're like, "fuck this. It's not worth the effort". I've met at least 2 people who also got banned for ban evasion (with no additional comment) or accused of being one of the many trolls who haunt this site. It's happened to me a few times too. All in all the moderation certainly has a hand in the current situation
