you dont seem to understand that elites can gain gratification from exclusivity. Its why they have works of art stolen, simply to have something no one else has or can obtain.

its also why kings would forbid peasants from hunting for food on huge swathes of forests, not because they cared about animals, but because hunting is no fun if you share your space with common people.

Not to mention there are other wealthy people who get off on simply transgressing societal norms and do illegal things just because theyre illegal.

You think the money to go anywhere and do anything would keep you away from crime but its the opposite, people are emboldened to avoid the constraints society puts upon them as their power increases.
