GNOME. GNOME has less features, and to be honest I don't think anyone should bother using any desktop environment outside of KDE/GNOME, window managers are cool but for your "efficiency gains" you have to edit a text file everytime you want to customize something, there are desktop shells like Noctalia or DMS but they don't do more than 1/3 or what a traditional DE does
