I am all for freedom, and we have more freedom in the UK than many European countries; you can own a gun for instance.

I think there is just a lot of people on the internet especially twitter nowadays who like to hate on the UK. Why? probably because we used to be a powerful country and aren't anymore, which makes us a fun punching bag for those who are projecting their own personal insecurities onto the world (extremely common on the internet in modern times)
