thirsty thursday was the day superman forced everyone in new york to drink nothing but his super pee. his super bladder could produce enough pee to do the job and it's bad for the environment to use water when it's not needed so this was for the greater good of the planet. as bad as the citizens may have felt about drinking the pee, they would've felt much worse if all the polar bears and penguins died because they drank too much water.
