From what I understand Proton is as private as it can get for any online service provider in the Western hemisphere.

But I guess if you live in the West you could sign up for online services based in countries like Russia or Angola or some shit, countries that aren't a part of Western treaties and will not cooperate with Western authorities. Then again, if you use a Russian email host or something the FSB might plant CP in your cloud and blackmail you.
