the 1990s was the golden age of planespotting. from ancient dc-8, 707s, and 727s to modern a330s, 777s, and md-11s and everything inbetween. you could see concordes, l-1011s, 747-100/200 and 747-400s, 737s, 757s, 767s, a300s, a310s, a320s, a340s, BAEs, fokkers, NAMCs and more. go watch any video of planespotting back then and compare it to planespotting today. here is LAX in 1997 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=po2a4TgBmAQ and lax in. now it feels like every plane is just some 737/a320/e175 spin off with no variety. plane makers dont experiment with design anymore and airlines dont have unique or varied fleets.
