pro PSP tip: copy all your PSP games onto your Vita so you don't have to deal with the crappy PSP d-pad (or analog stick, or screen)
(^Д^)
admittedly, you only really
need
to do stuff like the coin trick on a 1000 series PSP
2000 models have a way better d-pad, even if nowhere as nice as the Vita one.

I have been through multiple PSPs...
( ´ω`)
at least they were cheap
(´人`)
- this was early 2010s
in the meantime, my Vita has survived and thrived in the same amount of time (and longer) - I wouldn't consider the Vita to be particularly durable, but I will say that the screen and analog stick are not well attached internally in the PSP's design, 1000 or 2000 (haven't ever had a 3000 unit)
haven't had to care about a damaged UMD drive in a while thankfully because of the microSD to memory stick card adapters
so even if my UMD drive ended up busted, it didn't matter in the slightest when I had a 32GB card packed with games
