it was actually very interesting, I learned a lot. despite the image I posted, I never did it for sexual purposes. you get treated a lot differently by people based on gender. doesn't matter how egalitarian the community you join claims to be.

1. men will be sycophants, pretending to be interested in things you're interested in, will act as if they hold your ideas in higher esteem, generally won't criticize you harshly and will defend you if anyone does. it doesn't feel sincere at all though, of course.
2. you get treated with less suspicion and are viewed as more trustworthy by actual women. I take it that this is because they can see through and are used to the sycophantic behavior above. easier to make friends with women online if they think you're a woman too.
3. men will get frustrated with you if you don't give them enough attention. often suddenly being dramatic and blocking you.

I think if you're just trying to chat online then it's best to present yourself as female to females and male to males. that will lead to the most interesting/productive and least dramatic/least retarded conversations.
