I always smoked menthols because they are yum. Honestly, they are probably the same as in the west, but they are available there, but not here. The initial puffs always have the strongest of the flavouring. Externally, you'll still smell the same. There are more options for getting far stronger and heavier tasting cigarettes in Japan, hell, Asia and the third world generally. Japan will maintain a decent standard for them at least.

As for making the order, go for the minimum limit for the first order, which is two cartons (I think). You can then verify if anything has changed from what I've said and see how your customs may act, while also cutting any potential losses.

Another thing I miss from Japan? Smoking rooms inside hotels, bars, cafes, etc. Glorious.
