Suppose you enjoy eating a flavor of ice cream (vanilla, chocolate, strawberry). Initially, it is perfectly acceptable in the local society/community you happen to live in. One day, for a reason incomprehensible, it is no longer allowed to eat ice cream in public and in private. The reason given is "culturally offensive and disagrees with the traditional values we hold". They pass several criminal laws covering ice cream and its consumption.

You currently live within the area of this community, but you don't hold any attachment to specific groups or individuals in this community. You also don't particular care about what they consider important or their values.

Within a week, ice cream can no longer be bought or sold anywhere near where you live.

One day, a strange man knocks on your door and offers a deal: you will get a near-infinite supply of ice cream to eat. A special condition is that, although the community you live in is able to shame and insult you, they are unable to permanently remove your supply and any attempts to criminally charge you are guaranteed to fail. He also gives you a different location to stay at so you don't get firebombed while sleeping. In exchange, the man asks to be allowed to raze and incinerate the area enclosing the society you used to live in, along with any people still living there. He promises to only do this after your life ends.
