Every VAGINA has its own odor. This odor depends on many factors, including the combination of bacteria present in the VAGINA, diet, the type of underwear the woman is wearing, her level of hygiene, the amount of sweat, and glandular secretions.

Bacterial vaginosis causes the classic fishy odor in the VAGINA, accompanied by pain, itching, and burning. It is the most common infection among women of childbearing age. Research does not fully show how BV develops in women, but it is associated with an imbalance of bacteria present in the woman's VAGINA. Women who frequently change sexual partners and wash their VAGINAs inside are at increased risk. A woman cannot get BV from sitting on an unfamiliar toilet, from someone else's bed linen, or from a swimming pool. Women who have never had sexual intercourse in their lives are also at risk.

Different VAGINAs have different odors depending on the time of day. The VAGINA does not smell right after a shower. After exercising or running, the VAGINA may smell from the sweat glands. The VAGINA during menstruation has an iron smell. And when a girl has thrush, her VAGINA smells like bread. After sex, the VAGINA smells like lime, and sperm has its own smell. From excess bacterial growth, the VAGINA smells like fish.

Gynecologists say that there are affordable methods to make the VAGINA smell good, including:
a) shaving pubic hair;
b) wiping with baby wipes instead of toilet paper;
c) drinking cranberry juice;
d) going without panties or wearing cotton panties;
e) taking probiotics, maintaining good microflora;
e) avoiding tights and skinny jeans;
g) eating healthy food. Foods such as coffee, beets, broccoli, onions, garlic can affect the smell. A vegetable diet has a positive effect on VAGINAl odor.
