First sit alone in a calm environment with your Bible, pray something akin to this: "Father in heaven, though I am a sinner unworthy to know your mysteries, I ask that you please guide my reading of your word. May the Holy Spirit rest upon me, and may my holy guardian angel keep watch and guard me against the guile of the devil. I pray that you endow me with wisdom that I might glorify your name. I ask this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen."

Then, search for parallel verses and read them carefully. There are several in 1 John and 1 Corinthians 13 that come to mind, but don't neglect to check the gospels and the other letters. Try to avoid "figuring" the verses out, at least at first, and do not ask ChatGPT or Google. Read them several times and meditate on them, letting the mind of Christ guide you first before you try to discern anything. It is not by our own exertion that we can understand the scriptures, but only through the guidance of the Spirit. And indeed, if your congregation is impressed by what you had to say, and if they praise you call you wise, humble yourself and give all credit to the Lord.

>For our God is a consuming fire.
