I used NetBSD for a few months but it was very crashy. My original plan was actually to help develop NetBSD because I have strongly disliked developments in Linux in over 15 years and was looking to use something more sensible. Unfortunately the devbase is very 'exclusive' in an ivory tower way and it's impossible to even get pointers to where one can start digging on this system or that driver, etc. or even what the current things people are working on are.
I considered FreeBSD but there were a lot of political nonsense happening in that world at the time. I also evaluated OpenBSD and found it to not only be very slow and missing critical features, but also to be amazingly insecure because theo the rat is quite the daft man.
So I'm back in linux-land being angry at computers all day.
