I am the host, they are the guest. They will treat me as superior in my house. I would let travelers pass without an ability to speak but if they stay here then they must abide by rules that everyone else has been following, including language that is a millenia old rule!
I understand that people at 3 cannot talk but people are 30 and they are as mute as an infant. Deep shame and disrespect to the host. They should not seek respect back.

There is master and there is servant.
Master rules over servant and servant becomes an incarnation of will of the master and his body becomes a tool of the master.
If dog that is its owner's servant attacks me then I reasonably assume it to be a derivative of will of its master whether it was an actual command of master or servant misbehaving or misunderstanding.
It is an attack on me by its owner with the dog's body used as the tool of assault.
If master does pick such an insulting tool as dog to engage in an unprovoked battery then I would reasonably overcome the attack and show equal amount of disrespect. My disrespect of choice would be gutting it and displaying it.

Master whose servant attacked me is to blame as servants have no will of their own so the dog cannot be truly guilty. Truly good servants have no personhood but loyalty. Dog is a faithful servant so without a doubt I should seek an explanation or total war with its master.
