You should know that it's not just "Americans". It's really an Anglo (i.e. British, Australian, etc.) attitude (and more directly predator hysteria in the decades before Y2K and net-predator hysteria in the 2000s; people weren't as up in arms over age-differences, let alone between adults, which is the real absurdity with this recent mob hysteria; also power dynamic retardation introduced by radfems and popularized on tumblr; popular Internet is a melting pot) that has spread among the net, because of the centralized monopoly of American corporate SMS, and how the younger generations regardless of nationality use those SMS (without a doubt, largely thanks to SMS-integration in smartphones). Just because more and more people speak English does not mean they are Americans. I've seen young Latin Americans (i.e. with people using Spanish and who have such countries in their bio) use broken English to complain about sexualized underage characters for example, and by extension the worst I've seen is a Japanese artist on pawoo mention that he saw preteen boys call another classmate perverted for dating or wanting to date a girl a grade below them, and the young Japanese in general feel very "modern European" these days.
