Yeah I've wondered about that kind of thing too, like what kind of heavy metals it might be contaminated with. The brain damage and hallucinations from lead poisoning are just like an extra high though. More bang for your buck!

Of course pharmaceutical ephedrine is better, but it's not available here. Pseudoephedrine is, but I've found it has no stimulant effect.
