This entire thing is just a marketing ploy to sell overpriced crap to the desperate right-to-repair crowd and people who are angry at their macbooks. It doesn't serve anyone's actual needs.
If you actually wanted to approach their mission statement as a product designer, there's countless things they could do to accomplish it way better than this. You could excuse the shoddy build quality if the laptop actually was highly modular and customizable, but there's barely anything to actually customize about it other than the USB ports, and they didn't even go all-in on those.
"Look you can take out the hard drive and RAM!" well guess what, you can also do that on countless other laptops that are higher quality and cost less.
"Look you can take out the screen panel! it's attached with magnets!" I can count the amount of laptops whose screen I've broken with 0 hands because it has never happened, and even if it happened once per 5 years then unscrewing the chassis from a normal laptop for such a niche repair really wouldn't be a big deal.
Where's different decorative paint jobs and color options? Where's different touchpads with buttons and crap? Where's different keyboard layouts like TKL or one with a touch point? More expensive LCD panels for artists? These matter a lot to the user and would be some of the easiest and cheapest things to provide alternatives for, and one of the most compelling reasons to buy one since you could fix all your personal nitpicks that you have with laptops, but the best they could do is slap an awkward numpad next to the awkward generic laptop keyboard.
It's easier to get a custom laptop from some random Clevo reseller, it'll be cheaper and better quality too. The only thing you'll miss out on is led light panels next to your keyboard.
