You could survive 2 weeks with only 40 dollars for food. It would be a fun challenge. Just make a big pot of soup to eat for the whole time with basic ingredients. They used to have pots of stew that would be kept at least partially filled forever. It's called perpetual stew, they just kept reusing it.
