The problem with a blog is that you have interesting things to talk about, and most people who write blogs are fucking BORING! Exceptions abound, but Neocities is littered with the corpses of half heartedly started blogs that never progressed beyond meta-posting. If you're not doing anything meaningful now, you're probably better off buying and using a weekly planner.
The other thing that's annoying about blogs is that they're effectively "non-verbal" in the sense that two writers can't actually talk to one another without using a third platform, often turning the blog into a fashion accessory for your Discord.
In turn, I made my own website a project oriented hybrid forum thing. Webdev is fucking miserable though so I got caught into the meta trap myself for a while, especially after dropping off the face of the net for a couple months.
