While in my imagination the rape scene was much more bloody and scary, I forgot to think about her screams. In the movie’s scene, her red-covered mouth and loud struggles are genuinely horrific.

I prefer books anyway - in my imagination, Americans resemble human beings. I can’t stand those twisted, theatrically grotesque faces in the movies. The protagonist’s thoughts and growing troubles were also very rich and immensely interesting. Doubting they were faithfully portrayed in the adaptation. I am too old now to remember my own childhood, or maybe I gave up on those memories.

But one fault is that I have little clue what kids look like. I really didn’t have any around in my whole life, except those the same age as me. When reading the book I imagined her much, much older, and that took away from certain things that happened to her. T-this is… just a child. Also, Glen in the movie was cast perfectly - he has a fucking failure written all over him.
