Hitler's real surname was schicklgruber, but he hated it and changed it to his grandfathers surname, Hiedler, which he spelled Hitler (they are pronounced the same in german).

I wonder if he ever would have rose to power if he didn't. It's hard to imagine there would ever be a world where everyone in germany was saying "Heil Schicklgruber!"
