I think it's something only people raised in religion would understand, it's not fully mental, it's more like your nervous system doesn't like it. It's kind of like incest... you just instinctually don't want to do it.

But, well... there's plenty of cultural christians who will blaspheme and commit incest, so it's obviously not universal...
