I was thinking about those tablets the japanese made to uncover secret christians - they'd place a metal engraving of Jesus on the floor and ask you to step on it.

I'm an atheist now, for all intents and purposes, but I wouldn't step on it unless I had good reason to (like avoiding execution). The rational, logical part of my brain does not believe in anything spiritual at all, even luck, but subconsciously, I am still superstitious. I was raised Christian, so there's just too much bad vibes around desecrating stuff like that. I certainly sin a lot, but I try to avoid offending God... even though I'm sure his existence is a myth
