you hit it right on the head. the former can't be replaced by a machine, and the latter is currently being replaced by or supplemented by machines en masse, because it's cheap and easy and that's what matters to the people who actually fund that kind of art.
however I think what has artists in a tizzy is that commodities are not only used by businesses but also by regular people, too. non-artists who have needs for art (like if they wanna commission an OC or some niche fetish porn) now have AI as an option, and while some care about whether it's human-made, others (especially the porn-fappers) don't really, because they care way more about the subject of the art than the method of its creation. so commissions might not even be a reliable method of making money as an amateur artist anymore. I'd be pretty pissed too if I was facing that kind of competition
