i think with wealth gaps growing larger you may see servants again in your lifetime.

much like during the height of the industrial revolution, labor turned dirt cheap and people out of work causing ppl to become servants, and the rise of wealthy ppl who hired guys to just open doors or drive you around.

ppl forget back then it was seen as a good thing, rich people were employing vast amounts of people, and instead of working in a factory, you can stand by a door and wait for the master, and open the door and thats your work day... a more preferred job than huffing mercury fumes or coal dust

Likewise, uber, meal delivery, etc are adhoc versions of this servant structure, but because these services are anonymous (you dont know whos delivering your food) the service is unreliable or bad - immigrants or almost homeless people handling your burger eating it before you get it, or delivering your packages and hurting your dog or other disgusting things that happen almost daily.

As the quality of pseudo anonymous servant services goes down, you will see people hire servants to do things instead.

Why pay an indian to get your mcdonalds, when you can pay your friend who you know needs the money? or someone who you know would provide better service to you.
This becomes a retained servant relationship, where specific person(s) are kept in employment.
