You can either choose to be ignorant, hopeful, and happy or rational, cynical, and sad. Both are a sort of poison personally i'm glad that i'm at least aware of the harsher realities, despite how miserable it makes me. People who are too comfortable are often annoying, and i don't really want to be like them. Though its understandable to long for a time when you just didn't care
