Affordability seemed manageable until 2017, that's when I noticed an apartment became unobtanium. I started to see people living in tents and smoking fentanyl in the streets. But I don't remember anyone saying there was a great recession in 2017.

It's all gaslighting. When they say the economy is bad they just mean stocks are down and the ultra rich are growing their wealth at a slightly reduced pace compared to usual. The "economy" they're talking about has nothing to do with the lives of normal people. It doesn't matter how good the markets are or how low unemployment is when 60% of your paycheck goes to rent.

I count my country as having been in an almost Great Depression tier economic crisis since 2017 which is ignored by the media and politicians when politically convenient and given attention by the news and politicians when politically convenient.
