Oh word, sorry I didn't really read the reply chain. I use a Mac at work for photo editing stuff and macOS being the best at handling HDR is just a fact. The only people that would argue are those that haven't used it (tbf it's hard to justify a ~3000k computer unless you need it for work). The ability to lock the monitor to D65 160 nits or something for web editing and have it simultaneously display HDR content up to 1600 nits is simply on an entirely different level. Just out of curiosity, what scanner software are you using on macOS?
