I am all of those things listed and I never use hdr. I don't like that every single piece of software has its own unique way of interpreting hdr, and even worse is the awful HDR to SDR conversion for non hdr displays.
It is still going to be decades till hdr is standardized across everything and when that happens 99% of all media will still be in 8bit video range SRGB/rec709, and look perfectly fine.
Right now HDR exists exclusively to make ads brighter on your phone screen.
Also I think xlibre has fixed most of the problems with color that gayland still has, but nothing beats mac os for real HDR work.
