Current America still involves eating 2400 to 2800 calories a day for most people, except no one is remotely active and thus only burns 1600-1900 a day.
People who aren't active and burn over 2400 calories will still end up eating like 3000+.
I am reminded of a trip to Europe I did years ago, where the only fat people I saw were in England (and they weren't American sized). Didn't see a single fatty across Spain, Italy, France, and Portugal.

I land back home in Miami and immediately see someone spilling out of a mobility scooter on the sidewalk.
