I think laws like the online safety act would affect mainstream social media, but then you have sites like AO3 that were founded on the idea that if its not illegal, I should be allowed to post it. Like they have an army of lawyers or something. I wouldnt be surprised if theres other sites like that. I know some YouTubers got sick of dealing with YT and made that Nebula thing but I dont think its a more guarded alternative per se.

Anyway, finding or creating niche places online and gatekeeping them is how you keep good places for different sorts of people. Idk if gatekeeping is the right word but w/e
