There is something to be said about not immediately doing your wants if you know that it will lead to something else you value more (e.g. holding off on ice cream to get money for a new computa). That's more related to long-term planning and value judgements than morality, though it can get contrived once you get to more abstracted reasons (e.g. "for the good of society", "because that is how things are", "because that is how a "good" person acts" etc.)
